The Humanities Faculty teaches the subjects of History, Geography, Religious Education and Empowerment. During years 7 and 8 these are taught as discrete subjects within one teaching group. Empowerment lessons enable students to explore personal, social and health education. During Key Stage Four statutory entitlement to RE to fulfilled within Empowerment.
History, Geography and RE are all offered as option subjects for GCSE. Students have the opportunity to study more than one. Uptake of Humanities subjects is very popular and results are good.
Field work is offered in both key stages. Recent visits have included Chepstow Castle and Tintern Abbey, Places of worship in Birmingham, Big Pit, the Roman Baths, the source of the River Lugg and the battlefields of the First World War.
